Jericho to court Karylle?

The Buzz Host Kris Aquino blurted out to her co-hosts on the show, Ruffa Gutierrez and Boy Abunda, yesterday (December 28) that actor Jericho Rosales has asked an ABS-CBN executive if he could court new Kapamilya star, Karylle. Rumor has it that the actor got the female singer's number and that he was ecstatic about this. "Deo (Endrinal) was with me (last) December 23," Kris related. "Kinuwento ni Deo nag-ask ng permission daw sa kanya si Echo (saying), 'Tito Deo liligawan ko ah, si Karylle.'" Endrinal is the person-in-charge of the shows that Karylle will be doing with the Kapamilya network, such as the upcoming series Maruja.

Boy and Kris then explained to the viewers that Echo was being courteous to the business head for asking permission from him. Ruffa, on the other hand, added that she talked to Genesis Entertainment’s Angeli Pangilinan, who is currently managing Jericho’s career. Karylle was also a former talent of theirs. Angeli somehow confirmed that Echo indeed has his eye on ZsaZsa Padilla’s daughter.“Although type na type ni Echo si Karylle, hindi pa sila nagfo-formal date sa labas and they just see each other during working hours. But si Echo is still single and likes so many girls daw," Ruffa shared.

Meanwhile, Karylle denied that the actor is already courting her. "Dati ko pa siyang kakilala, hindi naman (siya nanliligaw). Hindi totoo 'yon. Right now, I'm just really focusing on my work. Parang iniisip ko ang boyfriend ko ngayon ang trabaho ko," the singer-actress explained.

Jericho, on the other hand, confirmed Karylle's claim that they have known each other a long time ago. "I got her number a long time ago, because we have the same manager before. We're all close, magkakasama kami," he said. Echo added that he admits to texting Karylle once in a while.

Jericho Rosales on Heart Evangelista: ‘Parati ko siyang ipinagdarasal’

“From the bottom of my heart, I am the happiest man in the world because of you guys.” Ito ang pagpapasalamat ibinigay ni Jericho Rosales sa mga miyembro ng media nang makapanayam siya dahil sa kanyang big comeback sa showbiz.

Maraming tao ang pumuri sa aktor dahil hindi pa rin kumukupas ang kanyang galing sa pag-arte at nangako pa si Echo na patuloy pa niyang gagalingan. “I’m going to show you better things and asahan n’yo po ‘yan. I’ll always be thankful and I’ll be grateful dahil sa mga binigay n’yo sa akin.”

Ang katatapos lamang na teleseryeng Kahit Isang Saglit kung saan nakasama ni Echo ang Malaysian actress na si Carmen Soo ang kanyang big TV series habang Metro Manila Film Fest entry na Baler kung saan naman kasama niya si Anne Curtis ang kanyang major movie project para sa 2008.

Ibinalita rin kamakailan na sisimulan na next year ang kaniyang project kasama ang dating leading lady at former girlfriend niyang si Kristine Hermosa. Nauna rito, nagtambal na ang dalawa sa isang episode ng Maalaala Mo Kaya. Ibinahagi ni Echo na sobrang okay sila ngayon ni Kristine at sa katunayan ay magkapitbahay pa sila. “I’m glad na kahit matagal kaming hindi nagkita, she still considers me as one of her close friends, which is good,” kuwento ng aktor. “Kami naman kung ano ‘yung nangyari dati, tapos na ‘yon, eh. Mga bata pa kami non. Ang importante ngayon masaya kami ‘pag nagkikita, ‘pag nagtatrabaho. Very supportive siya, ‘yun ang pinakaimportante roon.”

Samantala, nabanggit din ni Echo na willing siyang batiin ang kanyang former girlfriend na si Heart Evangelista ngayong Kapaskuhan, subalit mas gusto niyang huwag nang pag-usapan pa ang kanilang nakaraan. Aniya, pareho nang maganda ang takbo ng buhay nila, lalo na ang kani-kanilang mga career. “She knows that parati ko siyang ipinagdarasal. I always wish her the best. And si Heart will always be a part of my heart. With regards to other negative things, I’m done, tapos na. I think she’s doing well. Everything is going right with me, pagkatapos ng lahat ng bagyo, humupa na ang lahat, matiwasay na ang lahat.”

Kung mabibigyan ng pagkakataon ay willing ba siyang balikan pa si Heart? “Only God knows, but as of this moment, parang wala lang muna. Magaling na ako, okay na rin siya. I know she’s where she wanted to be I don’t want to talk about that. I’m happy being single. I want to make friends and focus on that muna, work, family loved ones.”

Shaina talks about spending Christmas with John Prats.

Excited si Shaina Magdayao sa upcoming movie niyang Ang Tanging Ina Niyong Lahat kung saan isa siya sa mga anak ni Ina Montecillo (portrayed by Aiai delas Alas) and she said she had a great time while doing this film with the rest of the cast who are now all grown ups.

Joined by Alwyn Uytingco, Jiro Manio, Serena Dalrymple, Carlo Aquino and Yuki Kadooka, Shaina swars this is going to be the be shown this holiday season.

She also shares her joys in traveling and Shaina said mas enjoy daw siya when she went to Japan and Singapore. “Hindi nga lang ako masyadong nakapag-shopping sa Japan. Parang ang yaman ko naman kung sa Japan pa ako magsa-shopping, sobrang mahal doon.” She said, showing her winning smile.

Isa pang kinagigiliwan ni Shaina sa nu’ng pumunta sa Singappore ay sumakay daw siya ng taxi at train. These little pleasures ay hindi raw niya nai-enjoy ‘pag nandirito siya sa bansa, she does abroad.

We asked her about her plans for Christmas?

“Well, I wanted sana to spend the holidays in New York with my family but as it is, mukhang hindi puwede dahil may parade on the 24^th and I have work agad after New Year. I’ll just spend it here na lang at home.”

Though they haven’t formally admitted, Shaina doesn’t deny the fact that John Prats is the man who inspires her, who makes her smile.

Ano naman ang ipinagkaiba ng pasko niya ngayong kasama niya si John?

“Siyempre, ngayon may dadalaw na sa akin. Dati kasi wala.”

When asked what qualities of John has strike her the most?

“ Mabait kasi si John sa pamilya niya, eh. Ako kasi, hindi ko tinitingnan ang showbiz side ng tao. Mas tinitingnan ko kung ano siya. Totoong tao siya.”

Shaina admits, John is the only man she is exclusively dating.

Our conversation with Shaina didn’t end just there. Kinamusta din ng mga naroon si Vina Morales sa kanya? “ She’s very okay. She’s happy. Ayun, laging kumakain. Ang takaw niya ngayon!”

Shaina admits that her family is trying to shield her Ate Vina from nasty talks and intrigues kung kaya’t positibo ang pananaw ni Vina sa buhay at maganda ang aura ng singer/ actress. Baby girl ang batang dinadala ni Vina.

Shaina was asked about her relationship with Vina’s boyfriend?

“Okay naman. Okay lang. I think kung ano ang meron sila ni Ate, ‘yun ang mas mahalaga.”

Sa kabila ng mga intrigang ibinabato sa relasyon ng Ate Vina niya at sa boyfriend nito, nanatiling naka-protekta at naka-depensa si Shaina sa kapatid.

Talks like kesyo nagkaka-problema si Vina at ang ka-relasyon niya. “Huwag naman po nating pangunahan. Kung may lalabas, sa lalaki dapat manggaling. Hindi ‘yung sa papers lang. Wala nga kaming clue at all, eh.

So far, ang pagkaka-alam ni Shaina, okay ang lahat sa pagitan ninna Vina at ng non-showbiz boyfriend nito.

Karylle vs. Marian?

The so-called war between Karylle and Marian Rivera all started when the singer-actress gave a mysterious smile when Boy Abunda asked her if actress Marian Rivera was pregnant with her ex-boyfriend’s baby during The Buzz’s Tough Ten portion last December 14. With the still rampant rumors that Marian allegedly stole Dingdong Dantes from Karylle, it was all but easy for the public to assume that the actress was indeed pregnant.

However at the December 15 press conference of the movie Desperadas 2, Marian let all hell break loose when she went emotional and said that she was definitely offended by Karylle’s smile. “Dadaanin ko rin sa smile para controversial ako?” Marian told the press with tears rolling down her cheeks. Some of the press present during the event though deemed her actions a little bit fake and OA. Some event went to the extent of saying the act was orchestrated for her to get pity from the viewing public.

Karylle on the other hand explained her side earlier that morning during her live guesting on talk show Boy & Kris. “I don’t wanna answer that question, that was what I really meant,” was the actress’ clarification of the smile that would definitely go down in showbiz history. She further added later during her story conference for the teleserye Maruja that she wasn’t mad at Marian’s statements at the Desperadas’ press con. “I explained my side. Hindi ako galit kaya wala naman akong kailangan patawarin.”

On December 16 during the Kapamilya Christmas Special taping at the Araneta Coliseum, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Karylle’s mom, was cornered by the media to ask her comments on the situation. The Divine Diva, who was performing with her daughter on the show, just smiled and said ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!’ perhaps not wanting the issue to grow bigger. Karylle’s step father, Dolphy was also on the same page and said being in showbiz, one has to be prepared for all the intrigues.

Dingdong though remained quite all through out the brouhaha that is until he attended an event last December 18 and the media got the chance to ask his reaction to the issue. The actor was quite vocal in saying that he doesn’t want to get entangled in the middle of things but believes that the truth will eventually come out in the open. But what sparked rumors anew was his appearance at the Shake, Rattle and Roll X premiere last December 20, where he escorted Marian, who was one of the movie’s lead stars.

And just yesterday on ASAP ’08, everyone was wondering if Karylle’s song numbers were all an ode to her ex-boyfriend. She sang hits like I Love You, Good-bye, I’ll Never Get Over You (Getting Over Me) and Don’t Let Me Be Last To Know. Perhaps, is this the singer-actress’ farewell to Dingdong and a closure to the issue?

As of press time, the situation has yet to be resolved and a cease-fire, declared. The Buzz hosts Boy Abunda, Kris Aquino and Ruffa Gutierrez hope that the issue gets fixed soon and that eventually Marian clears her name especially her rumored ‘diva’ attitude which has given her notoriety in the entertainment industry.

Ruffa Gutierrez and Kris Aquino deny that there’s friction between them

"Do you like me?" direktang tanong ng host na si Ruffa Gutierrez kay Kris Aquino kahapon (Disyembre 21) sa The Buzz hinggil sa patuloy na intrigang mayroong hidwaan ang dalawa. "Yes," mabilis na sagot ni Kris, na dinugtungan ng tanong kay Ruffa na: "Is there any reason for me to dislike you?" Sagot naman ni Ruffa, "No, I'm such a nice girl," sabay tawa ng dalawa at ng isa pang host ng The Buzz na si Boy Abunda.

Kamakailan ay nagkaroon ng chismis na not in good terms sina Ruffa at Kris dahil sa diumano'y madalas na magkasalungat ang kanilang opinyon samga paksa sa POV (Point, Opinion, Violent Reactions) segment ng show. "Sa akin po talaga hindi totoo 'yun," paliwanag ni Ruffa kay Kris. "You know, I really look up to Kris. I've told you that again and again. Wala talagang isyu para mag-away kami. For one, you're in a very comfortable place right now. Why would you be insecure naman of poor cute little me?" nakangiting bangit ni Ruffa.

Sa paliwanag ni Kris, ang tanging naiisip lamang niyang dahilan na posibleng ikinagalit sa kanya ni Ruffa ay ang kanyang mga walang pakundangan na mga biro sa aktres. "Diretsong sagot dun ah, I can attest to this, I think you should attest to this also," patukoy kay Ruffa. "'Yung second episode I think there was a Tough Ten or some interview and I said, 'You wanna join?' Yung parang when it comes to work talaga, hindi ako selfish person. Kung na-hurt man kita dun sa mga nasabi ko when I was joking with you, I won't joke na." mabilis na explanation ni Kris. Isinagot naman ni Ruffa na hindi siya nasaktan doon at idinepensahang mayroon din siyang mga kaibigan na prangka at mataray kaya't sanay na siya rito. "You're not naman mataray, you're so nice nga, eh," ani Ruffa kay Kris.

Ipinaliwanag naman ni Boy Abunda ang sitwasyon nila bilang hosts ng The Buzz. "Dito sa POV lalo na, 'pag nagsasabay-sabay tayong mag-usap, it's a function of the portion. This is spontaneous. This is not planned so 'pag may naiisip si Kris at si Ruffa, minsan may pagkakataon—I plead guilty—na minsan nagkakasay-sabay kami. But again, that is a function of POV. But as much as we can, we do try to give each one a chance to talk," paliwanag niya."May mga tao talaga na hindi nila ma-picture na puwedeng maging magkaibigan ang dalawang tao, who are doing the same thing. But we have our own areas to shine, you (Ruffa) have your Betty La Fea and I have my Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal," dagdag ni Kris.

At sinabi pa ni Boy na kasama sa inaabangan ng mga manonood ng The Buzz kung ano ang susuutin nina Kris at Ruffa at siyempre kung ano ang kanilang mga sasabihin. Pabiro pa itong nagsabi na siya talaga ang dehado sa dalawa. “Ako po ang api dito,” sabay halakhak ng tatlong hosts.

Kapamilya stars share how they want to spend Christmas this year

Vilma Santos – For the Star for All Seasons, Christmas will never be complete without the usual noche buena fair like ham and queso de bola. This is also the time she can prepare her only specialty which she and her kids fondly call meal-in-one. “Yun ang kaisa-isa ko talagang alam i-bake. Hindi nawawala yun every Christmas. Meal-in-one siya kasi may spaghetti noodles, corned beef, kernel corn, may cream of mushroom on top and then parmesan cheese. Sama-sama yun and then you bake it, yun na yun…ang sarap,” she shares with ABS-CBN.com.

Gary Valenciano – “I think Christmastime is the time that families need to be together. At kung my mga kaibigan tayo na walang pamilya or hiwa-hiwalay ang family members nila, I think we should take it upon ourselves to invite these people to be part of our family also,” he ponders. But aside from spending the holidays with his friends and relatives, Gary also hopes to share his many blessings with those who can’t even afford to buy themselves a decent meal. “On the 26th baka umalis ako with my family but we plan to do something really special especially for the street children. Yung mga anak ko kasi malapit ang puso nila sa mga batang mahihirap. So hopefully matuloy yun.”

Maricel Soriano – After taping the complete season of Florinda (the third installment of Susan Roces Cinematic Collection), Maricel is all set to take a grand vacation with her children this holiday season. “Dati, nung younger days ko, yung buong family paborito naming yung paggawa ng tsokolate na kinekembot na ganyan, ang sarap talaga nun. Pero for a change, magbabakasyon naman ako ngayon with my boys. Nagpaalam na ako, may license ako na magrelax ng todo-todo,” she gushes.

Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat’ promises laughs for the entire family

Christmas is sure to be filled with laughter as Star Cinema presents its Metro Manila Film Fest entry Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat. Top-billed by the Comedy Concert Queen Ai-ai Delas Alas, Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat is the sequel to the 2003 blockbuster Ang Tanging Ina and is directed by the same director, Wenn Deramas.
Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat follows the story of Ina Montecillo, a mother struggling to provide for her children. In this second installment, Ina’s four grown-up children have migrated abroad to live their own lives. Tri (Carlo Aquino) and Seven (Shaina Magdayao) are left to look after their younger siblings while Ina and her best friend Rowena (Eugene Domingo) continue to try every means possible to earn money. Their job-hunting misadventures lead them to Malacañang where they find work as chambermaids. Ina stumbles upon a plot to assassinate President Hilary (Gloria Diaz), and when the plan is carried out, Ina is forced to expose the truth. Her life is eventually turned upside-down when she is elected as the President of the Philippines. From their small house in the suburbs, Ina moves her children to the Palace where she begins her duty as the country’s leader.
Ina at first doubts her capability as a politician. Guided by her maternal instinct though, she tries to serve the nation in the same way that she takes care of her children. But she eventually learns that being a president and a mother is not for the faint-hearted and she is bound to fail at one or both. Furthermore, Ina and her children still have to deal with the same problems: misunderstandings, a lack of communication, selfishness, alienation, and wrong decisions. She later finds herself torn between being a mother to her own children and being a mother to a country. Her spirit and her family are put to the test, until a tragic event pushes Ina to make the most crucial decision in her life.
Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat kept the franchise’s tradition of doing spoofs and giving punch lines like the first installment. A new comic element to watch out for is Ina’s philosophies, comically twisted with a dose of truth. Ai-ai again showcased her comedic skills which was complemented by the equally funny Eugene who plays her on-screen sidekick.
While the original version revolved on a more mundane setting, Ang Tanging Ina Nyong Lahat added an element of the grandiose by making its central character a heroine on a national scale. Audiences who were able to relate to the simplistic story of the first film may find the plot of sequel too incredible to swallow.

Baron Geisler disappointed over people who keep putting him down

Baron Geisler expressed his annoyance over rumors saying he has gone back to his old habit of drinking booze. "Doon ako sobrang galit, na balik-alak daw ako," the actor declared. He revealed that he is taking steps to address his problem and that healing doesn’t take overnight. "Basta may ginagawa akong paraan para diyan. Kasi nakakasira ng pagkatao talaga. Kasi ganito na ko, okay na, tapos mababahiran na naman ng kasinungalingan o pangit na mga bagay sa pangalan ko." Baron has managed to put his career in active mode again, after his short stint in the Big Brother House and winning the Best Actor trophy at the Cinemalaya Film Fest. But just the same, rumors about his wild behavior and drinking problem have yet to cease.

And speaking of controversies, there has been a development on the sexual harassment case raised against Baron by Patrizha Martinez, daughter of showbiz couple William Martinez and Yayo Aguila. The Department of Justice has approved the petition of Patrizha's camp to have the case heard in court. Baron could not hide the sarcasm in his voice over this development because the verdict was served during the Christmas season. "Nakakainis naman po talaga 'yung mga ganyang pangyayari.Pasko nga, magandang Christmas gift 'yan para sa aming lahat. Kasi magba-Bagong Taon na," he said. Speaking of Baler, dito raw sa movie ay may mga limitations na ang aktres sa kaniyang mga intimate o love scenes. Maraming nagsasabi na nag-iinarte daw sina Anne at maging si Jericho kung dapat ba nilang gawing torrid ang nakasaad na "sexy scenes " sa iskrip ng movie. "I think one of our concerns lang siguro ay hindi maging sobra . But when you say love scenes, you don’t know what to expect eh. But the good thing about Direk Mark (Meiley), Viva and the script is, mapagkakatiwalaan naman na hindi sila gagawa nang ganun." Wala bang conflict sa mga ginawa niyang movie or mga TV shows ang pagiging Christian niya? "Me, my own way of thinking of it is, as a person I have my own convictions. Pero, when I’m on a movie or TV sereies, hindi na ako 'yon! That's the role i am portraying."

So, just to be nominated, happy na ako do'n."

Nilinaw na rin ni Anne during the press con ang isyung pagpaplastikan daw nila ni Toni Gonzaga, at napansin daw ito no'ng minsang mag-guest si Anne sa Entertainment Live kung saan ay host si Toni. "Nasagot ko na 'yon before. Hindi kami nagpaplastikan and I think I know her that well na hindi naman siya ganu'n klaseng tao na namamlastik o hindi namamansin. Okay na kaming dalawa. Karylle on her The Buzz interview: ‘There’s no right way to answer that question’

Seems like Karylle has become a modern “Monalisa” because of her controversial smile last Sunday on The Buzz’s Tough Ten portion. Everyone was intrigued with what the smile meant when she was asked by Boy Abunda if she knew anything about Marian Rivera’s rumored pregnancy. The singer-actress maintained however that she meant nothing with her smile and some people just misinterpreted it. “Ayoko nang magsalita about it. Tama na yung na-explain ko and na-explain ko na sa Boy & Kris. So before anything happened na-explain ko siya,” she said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN media late last night. “Sabi ko nga mabuti na yung hindi na ako

nakasagot para natapos na, parang kumbaga saved by the bell ‘di ba kasi thank you times up [since it was the last question],” she added.

But even if she just missed the chance to elaborate her thoughts at the time, Karylle reiterated that all she really wanted to say was she doesn’t want to answer the question about Marian’s rumored pregnancy. “Hindi ko talaga alam [what to say] kasi it’s not really a question for me. So ‘yun nga, Tito Boy (Abunda) din said [the same thing]. ‘Tsaka ‘di ba sinabi nga ni Tita Kris [Aquino kay Tito Boy], ‘Ikaw naman kasi it’s politically incorrect to ask Karylle [about the real score between her ex-boyfriend and his rumored relationship with Marian],” Karylle said, recounting the Boy & Kris interview she had which occurred hours before Marian’s controversial breakdown during the Desperadas 2 press conference.

The singer-actress knew how sensitive the topic was that anything she did or did not say would still be wrongly interpreted. As a matter of fact, Karylle was very conscious that her facial expressions would be misconstrued again as she reacted to the news that Marian was hurt and offended by her “malicious smile”. “Alam mo knowing na yung smile, I can’t even... At any rate, she admitted that she had a hard time answering The Buzz’s Tough Ten questions. “Each question was like an exam, you know what I mean? I don’t know if you ever had a terror teacher na nag-oral exams kayo ‘cause I had that in school. I had professors in Ateneo, we had in Philosophy and Theology [na] ganun. Ganun yung feeling na parang exams, I’m back in school or something like that. So when I saw him parang there's no right way to answer that question,” she further relayed.

When prodded about the possibility that she is just being used to clear the negative issues surrounding Marian and Dingdong Dantes’ rumored relationship, Karylle refused to comment anymore and quickly excused herself from the group. “Well pupunta na po ako sa (ABS-CBN) Christmas Special and it’s Christmas and it’s a season of love and whatever happened today happened today and I explained my side so I think it should end there,” she remarked. Is she ready to forgive them for whatever pain they had caused her? “Wala naman kailangang patawarin dahil hindi naman ako galit. Honestly, at this point, hindi ka na lang magagalit, [ano na lang] love for singleness [yung mararamdaman mo],” she grinned.

With her glowing aura ever since she started afresh as a Kapamilya, it seems that nothing could really deter her from staying positive despite non-stop intrigues.“Basta alam ko I’m happy where I am right now. I am here in Channel 2, I have this new show Maruja and may iba pang show na parating. Yun na nga eh, what I always say, with all the blessings coming my way titignan ko pa ba yung hindi kanais-nais or kung ano man yung wala sa akin?” Karylle concluded.
